I love it here. Ralph and Nanna McTell came here on our recommendation and they had a great time. It's our 4th. visit here and after a really exhausting USA tour, where we drove over 5000 miles between April 5th.and 28th. We are enjoying a really welcome break.
We met up with Dave and Caron Mattacks last weekend when we celebrated a Bat Mitzvah in Boca Raton. Our good friends David and Lori Glass had invited us to their delightful daughter Julies event. It was a great experience and started off in the temple with a very uplifting ceremony with some wonderful singing from a great Cantor. We then went for dinner along with 166 guests on a cruise along the intracoastal. A fantastic party.
You might remember Dave Glass as one of the people that gets a toast from us in "the card song" Special thanks to Mr. Glass for all his help in the past.
The North American tour was a great success. We were pleasantly surprised by the audience response and gained standing ovations most nights. Our 3 Canadian dates were so well received that we will be returning in July to do festivals and more gigs. We will also be doing West coast American festivals and concerts in September.
Special thanks to Steve and Sue Carson our good friends in Cincinnati for a special opening night where despite major P.A. problems, over 450 people had a fab. time. Also our end of tour concert at Chicagos wonderful school of folk music sold out and special thanks to Brian O' Malley for all his help and enthusiasm. It was great catching up with our old friends.
Linc Materna really helped out by doing "merch" for us and ferrying us around to interviews, Compass records did a great job too. Thanks.
Our new agents- Pat Garrett in the USA. and Bob Jensen in Canada are really "on the case" so things are looking up for us.
Thanks to all you punters for turning out. We were so happy that you liked the new stuff, the 'Crowd Song' and 'My Love is in America' getting fantastic feedback. I hope some of you will make it over for Cropredy, either with Nancys trip or under your own steam.
Christine and I are flying to Las Vegas today ( May 7) where we are giving away Gloria Swarbrick who is marrying our good friend Dax. It should be a wonderful couple of days and I'm sure F.C. fans will join us in wishing them a very happy life together.
We'll be having a little dabble on the tables and if I win, we'll have James Taylor At Cropredy next year!
Well we have an extremely busy year coming up and so I'm making the most of my time off. I'm off sailing with my son Matt and his lady and our good friend and sailing instructor Les Rant. We're taking our Cobra 850 from Tollesbury in Essex via France ( stock up with vino) and then to Brighton where she'll remain for the rest of this season.
Then off we go to Leek on May 23 with Gerry doing a guest appearance . Hope to see you at some of the gigs. I don't often have the time to write to the site, but hope I haven't bored you with my meanderings.
All the best. Cheers, Peggy.
