The
Free Festival
Held on the day after the end of the year (first
Saturday in July). There was a day long festival with music, films, stalls and
beer, from lunch time until the police arrived. Then there was a major problem
of finding somewhere to sleep and hoping you hadn't spent the train fare home.
I think all the photos below were from 1974, which featured Gryphon and
Caravan. I believe the festival was held intermittently in the 70's and 80's,
depending on somebody conjuring up the money.
